WhFreezingen cold weather and freezing are eminent, go into action before freezing temperatures hit.
1. Close foundation vents around home.
2. Disconnect garden hoses from outside faucets and insulate if needed.
3. Insulate pipes at well casing and at tankless water heaters.
4. Turn off and drain sprinkler systems.
5. Open the cabinets beneath sinks and bathroom fixtures on the exterior walls; warmer household air will help prevent the pipes inside from freezing.
6. Opening taps to a bare trickle keeps water flowing and avoids a frozen blockage.

Frozen pipes & no water:
1. Open up hot side on all faucets and leave on until water flow is restored. This can take some time so be patient.
2. Turn heat up in home.
3. Open exterior wall cabinets of sinks so heat can get in and warm pipes.
4. Use hair dryer or space heater safely as needed on targeted area. When using a dryer on a pipe under a cabinet, start at the end of the pipe nearest to the tap. You’ll know the pipe has begun to thaw when water begins to trickle from the open faucet.
5. Use hair dryer to warm pipes at well casing and at tankless water heaters.
6. When the flow is restored, check the plumbing carefully for cracks or leaks.
